i got some new cardinal tetras 10 of them ordered in. on the 23rd and put them in 10 gallon qt tank with a few fake tree things a filter and some cholla logs.

i have been dosing with two "tetra lifeguard" tablets once a day. (says to dose for 5 days) there was no sign of any of them being sick. though one was DOA but thats stress i guess being in mail travel for 3 days. today i still see no signs of anything negative. i mean they are still skittish like crazy , but they are less pale and swimming around and not just the bottom of the tank in a group like day 1. its very difficult to not just put them in my main tank. but i dont want to make a mistake and kill my main tank because of it. even though only one died and counted 9 in the tank i keep counting 8 . its a little difficult with an empty bottom tank because of the relections and i kinda blocked my view with the tree things but i figured they would like some cover. no idea whats going on. maybe i just have to wait until the end

thoughts?

Do you have any plant cuttings you could chuck in there.

Depends on what plants youve got. Stem plants are propagated with cuttings.

add tannins - driftwood, Indian almond leaf or roobis tea
they'll settle down

I bought 7 cardinals early in the week for my 75 gallon. I count them several times a day. Bought 3 more today and can only count a total of 5 now...but am sure tomorrow they will all appear. I worry as they are in with larger fish. Mine as well were timid. Good luck.

good to know im not the only one that does that. i recount them all the time. yeah they seem super chill today. but with the stuff in there i cant really count them. i thought they would be happier with something in there to hide under. even if they are just floating tree decor

i cant help but thing the 9th one got sucked up the intake while i was installing it. since there is a pre sponge on there there isnt really and chance of that afterwards

I make pre filters for my intank tube of filter. I have lost many fish and snails on there before I did that. Yes, I have a list of my fish and numbers. Every day I try to count one breed. Lol...I know have too many to count, but always count the newbies for a while.

I count my school's too lol. I would quarantine the full amount of time... We all struggle with the excitement of getting them into the display. I have 3 in qt and I'm anxious too
