Pygmy Cory Schooling Buddies?

Hello all,

I recently saw a YouTube video where a guy had Pygmy Cories and Gold Ring Danios in a tank schooling together. It looked sooo good!
Im setting up a 20 long and I know for sure I want Pygmy Cories and a Honey Gourami; what’s another fish I can add that the Pygmies will likely school with? I was thinking Black Neons because of the similar color palette?

My cories like to school with my silver tip tetras. I’m not sure about the pygmies but if you like the look of the tetras than it’s something to consider.

My bronze corydoras would randomly break off from each other and school with my pristella tetras.
I’d never seen Pristellas before, beautiful!

I do like the look of silver tips but I dont want anything close in color to the honey Gourami, I really want my Gourami to stand out

The best thing about pristella tetras is that they are both hardy and cheap

Do you think the Pristella’s will be too big for the Pygmy Cories to attempt to school with?

I'd say focus on a fish that you want. It would be cool if your pygmys school with another fish but it's not guaranteed, so I wouldn't make it the sole focus of your choice.

You could always find a good nano fish, there are a ton of species.

I see your point, I think that's wise. I'll try to not get my hopes too high for this type of behavior...

...Alllthooughh it WOULD be super cool if they schooled with other fish! So I'd like to make the odds of it working out in my favor.

Upon some further research it seems that there is a Tetra that looks almost identical to the Hastatus Cories, and a few people have had success putting these two together and getting them to school/shoal around together.
In my area it's much easier to find Pygmy cories, and I've never seen this Hastatus Tetra in person. So I'm hoping someone on this forum has had some luck with more commonly found species of tetra and Pygmy Cories hanging out?

Another one I haven’t seen before, these are gorgeous! No downside to picking up these if I find them, even if they don’t school like im hoping for. Thanks!

Yeah I was thinking size is probably more important than coloration for the behavior im looking for.

They are pretty awesome I have six males and they’re always showing off to each other flashing their fins, it’s really cool to watch
