Purple Firefish w/growth

Attached are a couple of pictures of my newest addition. As you can see, there is a white "growth" on its side. Unfortunately, I can't get a closer view of this without having the picture quality go to . The growth kind of looks like a flap to me...attached on the front end, loose floating on the back. It is white and essentially flat. I am trying to figure out what the heck it is. There are no other spots on the fish that I have found. I am in the process of setting up a Q tank for him, anticipating a need to treat...whatever that is. Therein lies my problem...I can't figure out what to treat. Is it a fungus? Parasite? Any ideas?

Nice fish.

Totally without seeing anythign upclose, my first instinct is fungus, because of your description of it.

Apparantly, it was just something stuck to him. I guess he probably picked it up off of the rock or something and just needed time to get it worked off. Now it is completely gone...can't even tell it was ever there.

By the time you setup a Q tank ... The fish is cured. LOL Did you notice if your cleaner shrimp had cleaned your firefish ?

Not that I saw. The firefish is new enough he really doesn't trust the shrimp to get close to him yet.

The cleaner shrimp will catch him at night while he sleeping. Mine use to jump on my clown and spin him all around while he was sleeping. It was quite funny to watch. Once I got the anemone, the shrimp pretty much stays away.
