I can see straight through to his brain. Today was the first day I really got to look at him in good light without him laying down or hiding. I've never had a cellophane so this is all so new!

I'm not sure if it's his brain or just coloring. I think it's just my male's coloration. I don't have a cellophane, but I have a marble.

I really think he looks heaps better today than when you first got him.

I wonder if the scales were rubbed off or injured in some way. I'm curious to see if they grow back.

Good for you for saving him. I know it can't be easy. I'm not sure I could do it.

Good luck! My wife and I almost did the same thing today a Petco with a little betta that looked nearly dead. So I really hope all turns out well.

Thank you! It's all him, really. He just needed a little help.

I'll try and get a better picture of the top of his head. I'm really convinced I can see his brain. His head is clear, I swear I'm not some crazy fish lady lol.

Thank you! I'm really trying with this guy. I went in for cat stuff and walked out with a fish and no cat things. Cat was not amused......

I have 4 cats, they are never amused. Lol. Your doing something awesome. They are just too sad to see just resting at the bottom of those cups.

Good progress report this morning, he ate a good breakfast. Tonight we're supposed to do a 25% water change and redose erythromycin. We will see how he does with water changes.

Glad he's doing good so far!

What does the erythromycin do for them? I ask because my Betta is sick and I'm not really sure what is wrong with him. Water parameters are good. Think it may be swim bladder but not sure. He is very lethargic, sometimes lays on the bottom of the tank on his side and when he does swim up his back end hangs down. He hasn't fanned his tail out in days. I'm really worried about him. Any suggestions?

HI Sheila. We can't help you on someone else's thread. It gets too confusing. You need to start your own. Go to the Forum tab at the top and click on it. Then go down to Freshwater fish and invertabrates. It will have a section on disease. Click on that. Scroll all the way down to the bottom and on the right is will say "Start New Thread". Click on that and a window will open to let you fill in descriptions of the problem. Then hit "Create Thread". Good Luck.

Hi! Sorry I didn't update last night. Worked really late and did it and went to bed.

He did great! I usually cup them the first couple water changes because I don't want to traumatize them but for some reason I didn't cup him and he was so cute. He saw a piece of food being sucked up the syphon and he chased it! I was like wow, you must be starved.

He's struggling with pellets, like he can't chew them or something so I'm going to try some frozen brine shrimp and see how that works. I also might run a course of PraziPro through him, too. I haven't seen him poop (barebottom tank) and he looks a little sunken in behind the belly so after the Erythromycin (I think tomorrow is our last day) I'll wait a few days and start the Prazi.

He actually doesn't look too bad, seems like he's responding well to treatment. Nice job!

Thank you! I'm excited to see him today. I left before tank lights were on so I didn't bother him. He's getting more and more color. That black scale is still very very noticeable lol

I hope that link works, fingers crossed! So this is my little buddy. Still nameless, but, that might change soon. You can really see his iridescence and his color in this!

Well, shoot. That was supposed to be a video. I don't know if it worked.

When it is pellet day, try soaking them until they sink. I have a swim bladder boy that I have to do that with. (In your case, it is just that the pellets are too hard until they are saturated)

He doesn't eat them when they sink I'm going to try the brine shrimp tonight. I feed frozen regularly so it's not a big deal if he can't eat the pellets right now. His mouth is kinda little. His whole body is little, so maybe when he gets bigger and puts a little weight on. Did you happen to see if my video worked?

There, for those of you that are that interested lol.

You would know your betta better than anyone else. Isn't if funny how different they all are.
I could not see the video, sorry. I have heard that you have to post it to YouTube and then post the link here.

Wow he looks so much better! When I got my little guy Ollie, he couldn't eat the pellets either. They were too big for his mouth. I did brine shrimp and cut up a dried blood worm for him. (That I rehydrated) It didn't take long before he could eat the pellets. Now he's nothing but trouble lol

He ate the brine shrimp wonderfully. At first he wasn't sure what to do with it and just looked at it, then he ate some and was a total nut for it. He seems so sweet and docile. It was nice feeding a fish that isn't trying to attack my finger or plastic spoon I feed them off of xD

He's looking good! . Yay for eating the brine shrimp!! He's gotten some color on his body and fins now. Wonder what he's gonna look like when he's all healed up?

Right now I'm picturing him with a marbled body of some type and white on the ends of his fins

Today I did a large water change to remove the Erythromycin. This is him floating in his cup acclimating to the temperature. I am just tickled with him. I think I'm going to do a round of PraziPro in a few days as a preventative because he's still so skinny. I think I sucked up one poop today, maybe. His belly gets somewhat round after feeding, but then no poop so maybe something else is eating the food on the inside. I'll start that on Tuesday to give him a little break.

Oh, I think I'm gonna name him Sushi.

Looking better and better! Makes sense you wanna make sure no internal parasites so that way the fish gets the food. Awww, welcome to the family Sushi!!

Thank you! He's definitely a cutie!

Oh, and we have poop today. A huge poop. So maybe that he doesn't have parasites. I'll keep an eye on it.
