Protecting Cory Eggs

I'm not a breeder, however, my fish sometimes have other ideas.
When I see eggs, I try to protect some them before they get eaten.

I tried scraping them off with a razor blade, I ended up smooshing them or they fell into the gravel.

I took a plastic craft mesh sheet and put it against the side of the tank.
Sorry for the looks of the moss, it doesn't do well in this tank

Shoved some java moss down between the sheet and the side of the tank.

The sheet is held in place by cutting a small peice of craft sheet and wedging it under the lip at the top of the tank.

awesome idea for those that spawn on the glass!!!! thanks lucy!
and your java moss looks fine lol..its just some food left over ...nothing a good shake in some tank water in a container won't fix

Thanks. After they hatch, it's every fry for themselves. If I see any I suck them out with a turkey baster. Two survivors so far.

It's not left over food. It gets gray and dusty looking. I rinsed it when I re-did the tank a few days ago. It's not healthy and pieces break off.
I've got a great batches in a couple of tanks.
I think it's the lighting. (Don't ask, I don't know lol) It's seems to do better for me under incandescent rather than fluorescent.

Great idea Lucy. I have found cory fry to be great hiders once they hatch. No telling how many will come wandering out one of these days.

Java moss is funny stuff!! In my tanks on the porch it does wonderful....only diffused daylight. In my 55 with low lights (just one bulb) it does awful!!!

Way to go on the "play pen!!!"...now figure out a baby catcher so when they first hatch and fall..something is there for them to fall into!!....you got it!!!!

A better way to hold the craft sheet in place.
It's a suction cup for airline tubing.
