Hello!
I'm going nuts trying to decide what part of my Parrot Fish is protruding. Any thoughts? Picture attached.
75 gallon tank.
The tank was perfect for 5 years, with the same healthy fish the whole time.
On a whim, we added a couple of mollies to the tank two weeks ago and ended up with ich. Treated accordingly.
The parrot started doing the dropsy swimming and laid on the bottom. We thought he was dying, but after a few days, perked right up!
The protruding area showed up at that time and has gotten larger. It's white and fleshy looking with a few round bubbles or bumps.
I tried feeding it peas, but no interest.
Anyway, thanks for an info!!!

Welcome to Fishlore.
That looks like it could be a breeding tube, hang on for some other opinions

It's eggs!!! We've had her for 5 years and never saw any signs of eggs. I wonder if the higher water temps for ich treatment activated something?!?
For the past hour, she's been rubbing her belly/tube on the side of a ship... such a shame that there's no male to fertilize!
Thanks for having this forum!!!

Glad it was nothing sinister & if it happens again you won’t be too worried about her :)
