That’s just part of his design! I believe the design is known as “cobra.” If it wasn’t there before it’s probably since he was stressed and only now became healthy and comfortable enough to display full coloration.

Good luck! Hope it goes well and the offspring are healthy. You can add floating plants to increase fry survival rate. Adult guppies often mistake their own fry for food. These guys multiply very quick, I’m sure you’ll have multiple healthy cobras soon. Just avoid inbreeding
