Problem with aqua clear 110

My aqua clear 110 has been having issues lately, I have it on full flow but every now and then it will slow down and barely any water comes out. I have a prefilter sponge on the intake that I rinse twice a month, and I cleaned the impeller 2 weeks ago and that wasn’t very dirty at all after running for a few months i just cane figure out why the water output flow slows down when it’s on full flow.

When did you rinse the actual filter media last? That stuff can get quite plugged up

Same time I cleaned the impeller, so like 2 weeks ago

Ok, another fairly common issue with these is a small air pocket forming in the bends at the top of the intake tube. That absolutely ruins the flow and can be hard to notice just at a glance

If thats what the issue is then all you have to do is turn the filter off and take the intake off, let the tube drain real quick and put it back on and start the filter back up. Unfortunately there's no permanent fix I know of

My AC110 usually has a small air pocket in the bend of the intake tube.

Ssnaaiil , what type of intake pre-filter are you using and what type of media is loaded in the basket ?

This is the prefilter for the intake that I use. And in the basket I just have a ac110 sponge then the biomedia on top

How’s the flow without the pre filter?

Sometimes debris and get lodged and stuck inside of the intake. Take the whole intake tube off and look inside of it. Double check the media basket and make sure it is seated properly and that there is no stuck debris restricting the flow of water. Inspect the impeller assembly to make sure there is no damage. And lastly, I would try running the filter without the media basket. If it runs normally without the media basket then we know where the issues lies. If it runs the same without the media basket than it's either an issue with the intake tube, impeller, impeller well, or motor. Start the process of elimination.

I run a few acquaclears and I jam quite abit of media in it , two sponges (course and fine) and some bio rings. I rinse them every week during water change.

The flow does slow down if you don't clean them every week. There is always quite abit of muck when I rinse them. It basically means that your filter is doing its work.
