Preset can adjustable heater

I got a 10 gallon top fin setup I bought about 3 years ago. The heater has been decent but recently is overheating. I have it turned all the way down and still heats water up to 84-86 degrees. I’m looking to change it out with a fully submersible heater. Leaning towards the either the fluval p25 preset or the eheim jager 50 adjustable. I know the fluval may be a little underpowered as it goes up to 6 gallon but the 50 is for up to 15 gallon, so the 10 gallon tank is right there in the middle. I think I’d rather be a little under since my house is right around 70 degrees year round. Thoughts?

84-86 is quite warm.
What fish are you housing in the tank?
I always recommend adjustable heaters unless it’s for a 5gal betta tank and then I’ll use the preset ones.
But I think you should be hasty in replacing it, a faulty heater can cause an electrical current in your tank and zap your fish..to death and maybe even shock you as well.
