Premium foods

using Tetra Color flakes right now and wanna purchase some premium foods for my Cichlid angelfishes to help them get better color and grow faster. (Dime/Nickle sized black and koi variety)

seems its all about New Life Spectrum and Omega Sea brand on this site for premium.

so which kind are good from each brand. I want to try out pellets since the flakes are a bit messy.

I use Spirulina 20 for my Angels and they also eat live black-worms and will sometimes forget they are Angels and eat the Algae wafers for my Pleco!!!

 

I like omega one and NLS

I feed my fish a mixture of NLS thera a pellets( really great stuff )
omega one veggie wafers that all my cichlids/cories/rainbows love to eat
kensfish.com has these flakes with spirilunia and garlic which all my fish devour

my bettas get NLS/Omega One betta bites, they go nuts for them, and occasionally I feed them the NLS thera A community pellets

 

I use new life Cichlid Formula - 1mm Sinking Pellets, I have the 150g. container and it has lasted me about 4 months, with my JD's and 5 tiger barbs. I also feed my Cichlids spirulina. The ingredients in the new life food is pretty good IMO.

If you sprinkle New Life slowly into the tank, it doesn't sink very fast. works pretty good for my fish

 

I just ordered 300g worth of NLS Thera+A 1mm. will see how it helps the color/growth rate compared to my current food.

 

your fish will love it, also check out their cichlid food, also try kensfish.com , he makes some great food, all of my fishes love NLS and kens ^_^

 

You beat me to it. The thera A is great. It also won't let you get lazy on your water changes because your water starts to smell like garlic. The grow formula is really tiny and the cichlid formula is lower protein so presumably aimed at vegetarian Africans.

I'm a huge fan of Ken's, Omega One, and Extreme.

 

I use Omega, NLS and Ken's.

That being said...my Angels really won't eat pellets at all even in my tank with sand. The pellets just end up fouling my water and I have tried the itty bitty and the 1mm NLS pellets so keep that in mind. The larger ones are a little better but not by much.

 

I'm not an Angel expert by any means. I only have two but they both gobble up pellets with no complaints. I have a mix of NLS pellts I put in that tank as I have a variety of fish in it and the Angels eat anything they can get to.

 

I feed Omega One, pellets and flakes. The flakes don't breakdown fast and loose their nutrition. They stay intact for a bit and the fish gobble them up before they breakdown.

I am going to feed with Omega, NLS Thera+A. I just ordered it a few days ago. I've heard good things about it and I have infections in my largest tank.

Your lucky then...only my very large ones eat them. My other 15 or so don't bother.

 

Mine are fuly grown so maybe that is why. Although I don't remember a problem when they were smaller. I had no idea that was unusual.
