Hi, not sure if my balloon molly is pregnant or not, I've attached some pics of her, she's developed at brown patch on her left side of late, sorry for poor quality of pics.

It's kind of difficult to tell if a balloon molly is pregnant, especially when still in the early stages so you have to find out by other things like behaviour.

How is she behaving?

Is she staying near the heater? Livebearers sometimes stay near the heater when they are pregnant.

How is much she eating? They will eat more when pregnant.

And based on the spot near her anal fin, which I am very sure is the gravid spot will darken as she comes close to delivering.

Hope this helped and welcome to Fishlore!

I only have her 2 weeks, the male still follows her around, but her behaviour hasn't changed since day one..that brown spot and overall size is the only change..I have cardinal tetras in the tank, would the fry be okay if she does start popping them out??

I am still convinced she is pregnant because of the gravid spot.

If you want the fry to survive you will have to set up a breeder tank.

How big is it? Does it have a filter? You will have to buy a sponge filter whether it has one or not because regular filters will suck up the fry. They cost between $10-$20 dollars but them you have to get the airline tubing, air pump, check valve, and air stone. $45?
Make sure it has a heater too.

Has a heater and regular filter, about 6 litres it holds..so I'll have to get a sponge filter then..how about a breeder box in the main tank??

A breeder box would work fine, just make sure to keep the fry in the breeder for about a month so they can grow big enough not to be eaten.
