Pregnant & Dropsy?

HI all! My platy has been dropping fry but not many. She’s huge and has exhibited the typical hiding and laying near the bottom of the tank for two weeks. She is still active though and I believe she’s eating however...now I see that her scales are raised and I’m concerned about dropsy. Any advice here? I’ve got her in quarantine now with a pinch of salt in the water and a fresh shelled/chopped pea. But I don’t want to treat her for dropsy if she doesn’t have it.

Poor thing. Anything also we can do? Wonder if she’ll drop her fry soon before her inevitably ...if we can’t save her

Did you use aquarium salt or epsom salt? Aquarium salt won't help, and if you used it, please do water changes to remove it. I'll give you a rundown on treating Dropsy. I'm not going to lie, your platy does have an advanced case. It can't be helped, it moves so fast.
What you'll need:
- kanaplex
- epsom salt: non scented, no additives, just epsom salt
-sometbing to measure epsom salt, can be ml
- water change equipment
- separate container for epsom salt baths

-You'll want to add 1 tbsp per 5 gallons to the main hospital tank ( if you have one)
-You'll want to do 2-3 epsom salt baths, 1tbsp per gallon for 10-15 minutes. If your fish is listing, falling on it's side and unable to right itself, or shows any other signs of concern without being able to correct it in a few seconds, remove your fish
*Make sure the salt is fully dissolved before adding your fish/ before adding it to the tank
- you will need to purchase Kanaplex, this is the medication that may fix this. It's a 6 day treatment, and my fish started to get better 3-4 days after the treatement ended. The salt baths reduce swelling, make your fish more comfortable, and buys time.
I wish you the best of luck

Oh and I totally forgot to mention: 50% daily water changes are recommended as well, which is another reason hospital tanks come in handy. They're normal smaller, so easier to do water changes. These keep the water pristine, which prevents secondary infections and can help the fish heal.
