Predator fish ideas

I'm looking for ideas for an attractive and interesting freshwater predatory fish that enjoys eating live fry, something fast that loves to hunt.
I'm willing to give this fish their own tank so whether or not it'll nip the fins of the adult mollies and guppies is irrelevant now.
The size tank I have room for is a 20 or 30 gallon (this will fit nicely on the rack below my 55 livebearer tank) - hopefully, that gives me an option for some effective predatory fish?
I can have the fish in there as a single fish (if it needs to be that way) but if I can get them in a pair or small group that would be nice.
What do you guys suggest?

Edit: I'm open to brackish predator ideas too since it will be a species only tank.

NC122606 - Those are definitely cool fish, I'd love one or two of these guys! Never seen them around here though, will have to ask my LFS if they can make an order.

Scarlet badis are pretty small but are predatory and like hunting. They're also very beautiful, though I've heard they can be difficult to feed as they mostly prefer live food.

RyanC14 I've considered them. But they're only 1.5cm and their main diet seems to be worms, larvae and stuff like that. I'm suspecting fry will probably be too large and active for them to hunt.

Angel fish...
Full size gouramis
Oscars
Nearly every cichlid...

I would put the word out at the local fish store that you are willing to re-home a fish eater... I bet you will be offered plenty of choices.

Truckjohn The smaller cichlids and gouramis sound good. I'll only be getting a 30-gallon tank so I wouldn't want anything like an Oscar.

Thanks for the ideas. Hopefully, I'll settle on something once I set up the predator tank.

Something as simple as a school of zebra danios might do the trick. Mine tracked down and ate most of my molly fry. They are fast enough to catch the little guys. I managed to save a few but the danios were faster at catching them than I was.

The other reality is that almost *everything* that swims is a predator.... They all eat live stuff.... I mean almost all fish food is made of fish afterall....

So find something you like that appeals to you.... If there are too many fry - just don't feed it for a few days and things will take care of themselves....

Truckjohn I don't have too many fry...yet! About 25 little guppies and mollies, but more of my girls are looking pregnant now. I'm planning to give the ones I grow out to my LFS for store credit, but I may need a backup if things get out of hand.
mattgirl Zebra danios sound fun too, would be great in a planted tank.
It's good I have some options, just want to be prepared
