Prazipro Where Does The Carbon Go?

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is in the right place. But I have 20 gallon high tank w 7 glofish. 2 filters and 2 air stones running from 2 air pumps. A heater.

Question: at least one of my fish has internal parasites so I ordered a tiny bottle of prazipro.

It says I should remove carbon from my filter....ok? And I can't put it back after I dose? Like where am I supposed to keep it? Or do I just throw it away? Won't it hurt my cycle to completely get rid of both carbons? I do have Purigen in on filter, and sponges and a floss pad in one. One carbon is fairly new-- about 5-7 days.

 

many people throw it away. You can put the carbon back after dose if you want. The bacteria don't live in carbon, they mostly live in the floss.

 

But my carbon looks like this so I think it's inside the floss

 

Yeah, just rip one side of floss open then dump it out.

Exactly what I did, FWIW. Honestly, I tossed that carbon, but I've only needed carbon once since then so I put some in a media bag in my filter for 24 hrs, and then pulled it right back out.

 

Okay cool ya I dumped as much as I could out like aquatickeeper said and a few hours later (sorry went shopping) put it back in... just to make sure things r okay

 

Make sure you dump ALL carbon because carbon will remove the medication

 

I did, like I flushed it down the toilet but tiny pieces still clung on to I think they're older than a month so I don't think they're that active ? or should I just take it out?
