Prazipro/Praziquantel

Hey , I just dosed my goldfish for flukes using prazipro/praziquantel and I’m noticing that he seems a bit lethargic just hovering in one place , kinda tilting and yawning. I’m presuming these are just the side effects of the medication and an indication of a high infestation of flukes. Could anyone let me know if this is to be expected and their own experiences with prazipro/praziquantel.

I have never kept goldfish before BUT I have used prazi on a variety of different fish species. It is known to be a very gentle and effective treatment. Ive never had fish show any negative reactions to it, I would chalk it up to the flukes. Prazi works quickly and in my opinion the flukes HATE it. They drop off my fish within 5 minutes of dosing it in my smaller aquariums. I would keep a close eye on the goldfish, and consider a second dose of prazi after 7 days just to be thorough.

Thanks for the reply, Boba(goldfish) is doing a lot better now, gonna follow up with my second dose tomo now it’s been 5 days. U don’t happen to know how to get rid of internal worms coz boba has stringy white poop. I live in the Uk so metroplex isn’t available here. Last time I get a fish from a chain pet store.

Use flubendazole. 1/8 tsp per 10 gallons (10% flu solution) make sure to dissolve it REALLY well in tank water first. Its a huge pain to get dissolved so stir like crazy. I would suggest a really good gravel vac and water change 24 hours after using to get rid of any eggs or worms your fish expel.

Important edit: add the solution slowly. Like a few small pours at a time over an hour or so. If you put too much in at once or dont dissolve it correctly, it could cause burns and issues with the slime coat dissolving.
