I am posting here to get a possibility of more views.

Do they make a battery powered air pump to have on hand for possible power failures? if they do, what do you recommend?

Sorry to hear about the power issue! I know Lexington and most of Woodford county are struggling right now.

The Azoo line of products are very nice. I use an Azoo pump for transporting fish.

Walmart should have them in the sporting goods department with fishing supplies. I have a couple of generators, the house I rented came with one plus I had my own.

I bought off my local Walmart store when they had them on sale a few months ago. I think the bucket itself can be quite useful for transporting fish if needed as it is well insulated. I wasn't really impressed with a bubbler performance though and I have no clue how long 2 D-sized cells can power it.

I know it is a much more complicated thing, but personally I would look into backup power for your regular pumps and filters. I think, even something small like can give you at least 8-10 hours of 10-watt load (e.g. my Marineland filter on my 65gal consumes 7-8 watt), at least based on "Minuteman UPS" calculations

If you can afford a generator and your living situation make it possible to have one (e.g. you live in a house), this may be even better option IMO.

a properly stocked aquarium will go 12 hours with out power easily most 24 hours. That said I keep the oxygen tablets that fishermen use in their bait buckets. They last 10-12 per tablet. Their cheap and store well and the batteries aren't always dead.

I had a decently stocked aquarium go powerless for 6.5 days a decade ago. I would pour some tank water through the filter a few times a day. No losses and no cycling.

Thanks, I have two fish about 3" and a tiny 1" damsel in 75 gal. So pretty lightly stocked. My power didn't go out this time but several years back our power was out for 17 days straight!
I do have a big generator...but I wouldn't leave it outside and running while I wasn't home. I'm sure it wouldn't be there when I returned : ( And moving it into place each day to use it for few hours then put back in a safe place isn't a great option. Only thing it is good for is if we are snowed in for several days and I cannot get out period. I was thinking more of a few days outage and leaving a battery powered air supply turned out while I am out at work.

I use the Azoo battery pumps. They are suoer cheap and work great for emergencies. Just make sure you have plenty of D cell batteries, you can get a big pack of AmazonBascis ones cheap off Amazon. Their are plebty of other brands (Marine, penn-plax, petsmart brand, etc) but in my opinion they are all abiut the same and azoos are much cheaper .Another option you have is Aquatop or cobalts battery back up air pumps .They are like a regular plug in pump but have a build in battery and automatically switch over when the power goes out so you bever ha e to touch them. So if your out if the house when the power goes out the pump still works. I believe Aquatop and Penn-plax make cheap ones of these and cobalt just came out with a nicer more expensive one that you can charge.
