Potential Summer Project

I have an idea for something to do over the summer, which would be converting all of my betta and nano tanks into two 20 gallon longs aquariums.

My current list of fish that I have in TOTAL is..

2 Female bettas
2 male bettas
4 endlers / wild guppies
4 wild guppy / endler fry (not sure which one)
3 harlequin rasboras (I know I should have more, but I literally have not seen more of these fish at any store I have been to since April!)

I male betta I have can 100% NOT go in a tank with anyone! He has swim bladder issues (I am assuming it is a birth defect as it's constant) and needs to be kept alone. I can't even put him in a tank with a HOB filter as he gets sucked to the filter. He has suck a hard time swimming and staying upright.

So I have thoughts of doing either...

A divided male betta tank as bettas are my favorite fish and I find myself in the stores falling for a new one on a weekly basis.
Then I would get more females and put them into another tank and do a sorority and add in the other fish. But, the only time I ever kept females together was when I was much younger and it was 3 in a 55 gallon tank. So I really have zero clue if this would work out well at all. I currently have one girl in the other fish (Leak in wall, had to move all tanks, long story - everyone is rooming together and so far no issues) so I know she is good with them, but IDK about the other girl or if I did get more, how that would go.

OR I could just do a smaller divided female tank and but the male in with the community fish.

The only thing is, I only have a dresser to put these tanks on, and tbh I have no clue if it would be able to hold one, let alone 2 20 gallon tanks. It is made of pine, but it is pretty long, so I doubt it has much support in the middle. I would need to find a way to support the tanks on the dresser, and even though my father is a builder, I have zero clue on how to do that and I would never ask him for help as he thinks I should have out grown the fish hobby many years ago and therefore wouldn't help.

Thoughst? Comments? Concerns?
Most importantly, ideas how to make the dresser support the 2 tanks? That's really the #1 issue before this can even start haha. (It's 64 inches long)

I personally would have at least four female bettas before starting a sorority. I guess the ideal amount is five, but one didn't work out for me because she was too aggressive and now the four females that are left get along great! One of them LOVES food, so she got a little bully-ish so I stuck her in my breeder box overnight and she has since been sweet as pie once again! Lol. They go through phases... Picking different spots as theirs, but they get along. Just don't ever have THREE or less!!!! They'll fight like CRAZY!! Good luck and God bless!

Lol no I know. I just have 2 now, they don’t live together or anything. I would of course get more for a sorority.

I once had 20gallons on my Ikea desk. But spread out in different tank sizes. Get two ten gallons and divide them for your bettas. I have 4 divided 10 gallon tanks for my bettas. They work great inside of haveing 4 separate tanks.

Yeah but then what would I do with my other fish? I’m trying to convert my Nano tanks down to 2 max. I have a lot now...

Wall you can't have a divided male/female 20 gallon long because the females will get eggs from the hormones of the males. So that idea is a false go.

I am very aware of that. That was not mentioned in my first post. It was a divided male tank and a sorority with my other community fish (which idk how that would go in a 20 L) OR a community with a male betta and then a female divided tank which would be smaller and just for the 2,

What I really am not sure about is how a sorority would work with communityfish as the only time I ever kept multiple females together was a long time ago, it was only 3, and it was either a 55 gallon withother fish. AND I don’t know go to make a dresser that is 64 inches long capable of holding such a large amount of water.

Is it possible for you two divide one side of the tank for the females and then a small community on the other side of the same tank?

I’m not sure if that would be enough space for either of the fish though. Unless it was like 15 to 5 and just have one of the 2 girls in the community and then one in the sectioned off area.

I have my sorority worth other fish for sure! You must! Otherwise they focus too much on each other. It's good to have them in a community tank!
