I'm setting up a new 10 gallon tank (which I am cycling) I was wondering if I should get 2 or 3 platies with a betta and 3 Amano shrimp for it. I've heard platies have a large bioload so I am interested in whether 2 platies would be a better option.
I'm also putting a few strains of anubias and a large driftwood centerpiece I have yet to find.

I would steer clear of a Betta in community with such a small tank. Both males and females are highly territorial and when they don't have anywhere to run the Betta may take a chunk out of them.

Start with shrimp. If your Betts kills them other fish won't work with it. I can only have snails with mine.
