Post Tank Cleaning Stuff in Water

Hi everyone, I have two tanks. One has an internal cartridge filter and one with an Aquaclear 50. In the one with the 50 after cleaning the tank I get this cloudiness and light particle floating all over the tank. After about a night the filter clears it all out. Any idea what it is?

This is just a vacuuming of gravel / water change. Did not touch the filter media.

 

how new is the tank and filter and did you clean the ceramic media well under tap water before you set up the AC50 filter? Some polyfill in your AC filter should get it out of there. Also what is your substrate and how well was that cleaned/rinsed?

 

Its just mostly dust, don't worry, I always get these during water changes, as normally they just stick to surfaces. And so mostly on the substrate. As the water current settles, the dust would eventually get filtered or attach on to surfaces.

Tank is about a year old so not a new tank issue. I did rinse the ceramic media and they have been in there a year now.

If you just cleaned the tank and find particles are making your water cloudy don't worry too much. It should settle down overnight and the water should be clear again. When we clean the tank, especially the substrate, it stirs up a lot on the bottom. Whatever doesn't settle the filter should pick up. If for some reason the the tank water still seems cloudy then I would use a product to treat it like Fluval Quick Clear Cloudy Water Treatment.
