Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum.
I've had my betta fish, Puffin, for around a year. He was full sized when I got him, and I assume he's around 2 years old.
Over the past few months, he started showing a sort of scale-like covering over his eye. I'm 99% sure it is not ick.
He also looks paler and more dull than usual. He's never been insanely active, but he seems more sleepy than usual and spends most of his time in the little cave in his tank or sitting on the plants and resting.
I don't know what the water parameters are, but I can do a pH test later today when I change the water. He is still eating well and doesn't seem ill, but I want to be sure so I can help him if he needs it. I can get a few pictures later, too, if that helps!
Thanks so much in advance :)

Photos? Sounds like he has diamond eye which is when the scale covers the eyes. He may also be old.

(The photos have a yellow tint for some reason) do these work?

Yes he looks like a old boy. And for sure has to be diamond eye. Diamond eye is common is these large scale bettas. He is not totally blind but more like cataracts.

My diamond eye girl was able to live a long life with out any special needs. (Even surviving a betta attack when her friend got past the divider)
