Possibly Sick Amano?

So I've had this shrimp for a couple weeks. The first day I got him, he was fine. But then a day later, he became....something else. Hes reddish brown, missing an eye (happened before I got him) and only swimming in flips. Its heart breaking to watch.
Is there anything I can do to help him? Does anyone even know what's wrong with him? All my other shrimp are fine.

Here are some pictures. Sorry it isn't more clear, my phone kind of sucks and there's a little bit of algae on the glass.

No idea. I never see him. I see him maybe once a day. I do have some darkish driftwood in there, but he was like this before I ever had driftwood.

What type of food do you feed? When my amanos eat blood worms or a pellet made of krill they turn slightly red

I feed my fish blood worms sometimes, but he was like this before I fed him that. Hes been like this since getting him from the store, so I really highly doubt its anything I have been feeding him since...well you know...I got him like this lol.

Any ideas /besides/ feeding items? Hes been this color and this way since I got him from the store, so its nothing ive been feeding him.

Did he have the same marking as regular Amano? He kinda looks like a wild neocaridina

I am not sure, I wasn't aware amanos had markings, however he looks like my other amanos (same size and every other characteristic) but I am not really worried about why hes red, I guess I am more worried about the missing eye and the only being able to swim in flips and not straight

Is there a predator in the tank?

No predators, unless you mean fish, in which case I have 7, but they are peaceful and do not bother the shrimp. And if it was a predator, my other shrimp would also be acting like this.

So I’m not sure what type of fish you have but some will mistake a shrimps eyes for food, so the other may not be affected. Some amanos just have odd coloring to them. I have 2 that are blue, 1 green , and 3 clear. I believe some just naturally change color. I’m not sure about swimming issues, is he active at all?

Right, but he lost his eye BEFORE I got him.
Just a recap; He already had a missing eye BEFORE I got him. He was this coloring BEFORE I got him. I got him from the pet store LIKE this, lol.

Sorry, it's just a teeny bit frustrating when you keep asking me questions about diet and suggesting things that could've made him like this while in my care. ~~~When I got him, he was already like this, minus the flipping!~~~

I do appreciate the help you're trying to give! Not trying to be rude, just want to actually start figuring out what's happening/what could have happened that doesn't involve something ive done, since, he was like this when I got him. The only NEW thing that has happened in the last 2 weeks is the swim flipping.

I agree with some amanos have weird coloring, he might just be colored like that. But I am still worried about his swim flipping. It seems like he cannot swim straight or normally, and can only continuously do loop de loops.

So by the time I finally answered your forum you were 50 minutes without a reply so I figured I’d try and help since some posts go unanswered. I’m sorry I was bouncing between forums while answering yours. I personally have no clue how or why he would be like this after all my questions were answered, I hope someone will have your answer

And I do appreciate your fast responses and trying to help! Was just a bit repetitive. Kind of like if you woke up one morning and you found your car broken into and dinged up, with no knowledge of how it happened, and the police officer just keeps asking you what you did to it, what oil did you put in it, did you hit it with a bat, etc. And you have to keep telling him, No, You found your car like this! I hope that makes sense.

Thanks for answering other peoples posts and mine!

Don't worry about it! Sorry I couldn't have been more gentler about it, its a Friday night and my brain is dead from trying to figure out everything going on with my tank lol.

I don't blame CichlidJinx, the way the original post is worded does really make it sound like the coloring thing happened after you got him.

I'm doubtful this guy is an amano shrimp. Amano have a distinct spotting pattern that I'm not seeing on him. And I know Amano can come in different colors, but this is a very weird color. It's pretty common for other shrimp to be passed off as Amano, it's possible that happened here. And whatever species of shrimp he is, they might not do well in captivity.

I don't blame them either! Not blaming anyone, just wanted to move the post forward with questions/answers that will help, rather than repeating over and over that this happened before I got him. I am not sure how, since in the beginning of my post I said "Hes reddish brown, missing an eye (happened before I got him)", but I will make sure in the future to make my posts clearer!

Hm, interesting. I am not sure what to do then. I can't tell if hes suffering or if hes sick, but I don't think id be able to humanely put him down....

If your water parameters are fine (I forgot to ask that) then there's nothing you really can do except let nature take its course and hope he lives

HI hrrenee getting all the information is always key when diagnosing a shrimp and I would be asking loads of questions like CichlidJynx as a picture needs to be built to diagnose right.
From what I'm seeing that is not an Amano shrimp and a natural colour, if it was sold as an Amano take him back its that's simple,
The flipping is consistent with him trying to moult but can't so if it's a failed moult he will die, the eye will never come back and the stress and shock of looseing it could kill him,
Not what you want to hear I know but it's the best I can do with what I'm looking at

As another note... if the shrimp was damaged before you bought him, lesson learned inspect what you buy before you leave the store.

I also agree this does not look like an Amano shrimp but rather a ghost shrimp with dark colors.

You make mention that you have other shrimp are you sure they are Amano’s? What I am getting at is the store might have sold you Amano’s but you got something else.
