Possible tape worm?

Honestly not sure if fish can even get tape worms I've been reading and have gotten mixed results. Just bought this angelfish a few weeks ago quarantined it for a week and a half and in the tank he went. Well today I noticed this white stringy tape worm thing hanging off him and I just assumed it was feces he was having trouble detaching from himself. Well it's been all day now and it's still not gone but he hasn't showed any abnormal behaviour so I don't think he's in pain. Could this be some sort of parasite? Or is it just me being an overprotective parent? If so what is it and what medication do you recommend? Also does this pose a risk to any of my other fish? Thanks for your help!

I'm not sure what that is, but yes fish can get tape worms.

If that was my Angel I would put back into QT and raise temp to 86-90F for 2-weeks or more and feed a deworming flake.

It's not on him any more. I think it was just feces and he was constipated. I have since fed him peas and am going to keep an eye on him. If I notice any further signs of a parasite then I will decide to quarantine him. In the mean time I'm going to set up the quarantine tank and get it cycled with established media and liquid amonia.

In the main rank? I just did a 40% yesterday I don't want to cause a crash. I'll wait a day or two.

I'd give the fish some food with roughage.

I'm a fan of feeding whole invertebrates. Live foods such as daphnia and bloodworm are good or even thawed and rinsed frozen or freeze dried ones after soaking in hot water. Freeze dried Gammarus are excellent too after a ten minute soak in hot water and very inexpensive.

I feed flakes daily with soaked blood worms once or twice a week and occasionally boiled peas. Also they have plenty of plants to munch on along with the shrimp pellets I feed for my snails. Also the shrimp sometimes eat the shrimp pellets.... I feel kinda bad about that lol.

I think that shrimp, and their relatives, are already cannibals pretty frequently, so no need for feeling bad.
