Possible ich in new neon?

So today I got two new neon tetras to add to my school.

But just now I noticed he has one white spot on his right side, just behind his dorsal fin. I haven't had him long enough to tell if his behaviour has changed, but when I fed them earlier he ate. I haven't seen him rubbing on any other objects either.

If it is ich, what is the best way to treat it? My heater is not adjustable so heating the water more is not an option.

 

Picture? Water parameters? Cycled? And if it is ich, do the heat treatment. Go buy an adjustable heater

 

(Note: Because the fish moved as I was taking the pic, there apprears to be more white spot than there really are)

If you're sure it's ich, I agree that the heat method would be best and I would go out and get an adjustable heater. Your normal preset temp at 78F is too warm for neons anyway so after the heat method is done, I would lower it to below 75F.

I see a neon in poor condition with a ragged tailfin and three white spots. I assume it came to you like this.

One slightly above and in front of the eye, one on the lower pelvic fin and one behind the dorsal fin.

These spots don't look like whitespot to me even though they are white and they are spots. This is because when I have seen whitespot there are lots of tiny white spots especially on the fins.

I think they are some other kind of growth on the fish.

Nevertheless action needs to be taken.

I would remove a fish like this from my tank to try and prevent its problems spreading to the others.

I would put it in quarantine or euthanise.

This is assuming the other fish are healthy.

 

Hmm, the spot behind his dorsal fin just disappeared over night...

(The other spots weren't spots, but just the way light was reflecting on him.)

 

Yes, he did come to me like that, I want to say he was bullied at the pet store because the neons weren't in a species only tank, I forget what else they had in there with them but they were larger.
