Hello everyone, I was hoping you can help me. I believe my neon tetra and strawberry boraras have contracted columnaris disease. I have attached two pictures, the best that I can take considering my babies did not want to sit still. They have what looks like white puff on their lips. I believe the tiny boraras is the culprit as this started last night and I just introduced him to the tank two days ago. So far they are the only two in my tank a showing these signs. I went to my LFS and spoke to a woman who suggested salt and Malafix, but when she told me that my dwarf puffers are brackish water fish and that they would benefit from salt, I became very skeptical at her advice. I picked up a product by API E.M. Erythromycin and was wondering if anybody had any thoughts on this product. Any advice would be greatly welcomed. It saddens me that my fish are suffering and I will do anything to help them. I have a cycled five month old tank with a healthy bacterial colony. I have done two water changes since seeing this. One last night and another this afternoon. I was wondering if this product or any other product what effect my bacteria. I also have shrimp in the tank how will they be affected? I have lots of questions and am grateful for any advice I can get.
