First off, I can't get a picture. My camera is too junky and the there are very few ick dots.
The symptoms are only in one tank, and I can't figure out why they would be getting it, but anyways..
The stock is 5 Red Micropoecilia Picta, 1 nerite, and 5 Aspidoras Albaters. Two types of fish that aren't readily available, especially the Picta, and I definitely don't want to lose any fish!
Tank Specs: Bare bottom with quite a bit of floating wisteria and a new unknown floating plant from Petsmart. New plants can't carry ick, correct? I guess I should have bleach dipped.
The fish: Just last night I had a mysterious Aspidoras death. The Aspidoras would act weirdly for a day or two, but then would act perfectly fine for about a week. This happened for two weeks. Last night I found him dead. He had seemed to be acting okay... Not sure if it could be related to the ick problem.
The picta are what seem to be showing "ick". I noticed about 2-3 weeks ago that a juvenile had a single white dot on his fin. Then, the adult female got 2-3 dots during this week. It seems like she has maybe gotten 3-4 more since last night. It looks as though none of the Aspidoras have it, but 4\5 picta seem to.
The problem: I have an unadjustable heater and salt also cannot be used since there is catfish and a snail also in the tank. So, what should I do? If I need to buy an adjustable heater, I will.
Also, are Ick treatments safe for catfish? I have Wardley Rid Ick and Mardel Coppersafe.
