Popped Eye Update

So a few weeks ago I freaked out cause of popeye. Never experienced it before so I was worried my old girl wouldn't survive. She is my 3rd oldest fish. I wanted to just that she's made excellent progress.

Others said that I should try and get her out of the 150 and into the hospital tank. I tried she wasn't having it. Trying to catch her was seriously stressing her out so I left her in the main tank and cleaned it every day partial water changes, rinsed my carbon pads in two of the filters every few days. Made sure she got some food each feeding. So everyone got special food over the last few weeks.

Happy to report she is nearly 100% and seems to not be bothered by the limited vision in her right eye. I am not an expert or a extremely experienced fish person. We have only recently gotten into fish keeping over the last few years and still make mistakes here and there.

I would say all in all even though some of you say my fish are fat, they are happy and thriving. I pat myself on the back for keeping her happy enough to wanna fight back against her horrible ordeal. Again, I don't know how or why it happened I just know I did everything I could to make her as comfortable as possible over thr last few weeks. And yes gave them all treats, something for her to want to live for more treats. She's fat and fabulous.

I would stop overfeeding. It's bad for their health, and I can't imagine they'll live healthy, normal, long lives being so overfed. Overfeeding is bad in animals just like it is in people. I don't mean to be harsh, but you're not doing her any favors feeding her so much.

I think it's great that you love your fish so much. I also like the picture of your dog and cat together. You can tell they are comfortable with one another which is great. And your dog seems older and it reminds me of my oldest girl.

Are you keeping your water clean for your fish? What are your water changes like? Are you using Prime or another comparable water conditioner?

I don't over feed them those are the only two that are big I am not sure why they are mother and daughter and are 2 and 2+ years old. The other mollies are from a different mother who passed away shortly after her last birth. I kept her 5 babies about 1.5 years old. They are not thay big and all my other fish are normal size. I have looked at many photos. Who know why those two are fat?? It isn't an epidemic in my tank. When I say treats I mean they got some blood worms and brine shrimp. I wanted to make sure that she was eating and all my fish love those treats and come to the surface to get it. Their regulat food is pellets and flakes. They get a few pinches of each with the 40+ community they don't all eat the same food.

How about you say something nice. Like I am glad you fish got better.

If you cannot be happy my fish got better don't comment

I usually only do water changes once a week or every other week depending on when I rinsed the pads on my HOB filters. I also have a canister filter and I am looking into getting another canister. I have 150 gallon tank have two 90 gallon HOB filters and s 150 gallon canister I have been looking at other canisters but think I'm going to buy another sunsun. I clean rinse that one less frequent. Usually with a larger water change.

Yes, I have a few different items I use in my tank. Prime, stress coat, biomagnet and I have used and occasionally use an ammonia detox.

I'm happy when they are all happy

TexasDomer didnt mean any harm.. she is just looking out for your fish and making sure you understand the damage it can do.
It is really easy to overfeed. And I do believe that is probably happening in your case, as you have lots of fish with different needs.
Just keep in eye on it and make sure your water is clean
Good luck and congrats!!
