Popeye Fix?

I got a tetra yesterday. One of them had a rough time getting netted and into the tank, I fear it may have damaged his eye. He has been hiding most of the time since put into the tank (a little bit of schooling with the others, but lots of hiding).

Tonight I noticed he's hiding in a rock and one of his eyes is very protruding.

Is there a treatment for this? My guess would be damage to the eye rather than disease. Will this heal on its own? Other suggestions?

    Thanks!

    Hello TombedOrchestra!

If the fish is having a Popeye issue, aquarium salt and some broad-spectrum antibiotics may be able to help get it cleared up, especially if the eye has swelling. I would look more into these options to see if they're right for your situation.

I hope your little guy gets better soon!

Neither are necessary. Absolutely pristine water will clear it up.
