What is the water volume of the tank? 10 Gal
How long has the tank been running? 2 years
Does it have a filter? 2 filters
Does it have a heater? No
What is the water temperature? 30c
What is the entire stocking of this tank? (Please list all fish and inverts.) 4 platy 2 black cory

Maintenance
How often do you change the water? weekly
How much of the water do you change? 20-25%
What do you use to treat your water? Fluval water conditioner
Do you vacuum the substrate or just the water? substrate


Feeding
How often do you feed your fish? once daily
How much do you feed your fish? A pinch of flakes and a pinch of pellets
What brand of food do you feed your fish? Tetra
Do you feed frozen or freeze-dried foods? no

Illness & Symptoms
How long have you had this fish? 1 year
How long ago did you first notice these symptoms? today
In a few words, can you explain the symptoms? see photo but basically tail is frayed with some black spots and belly looks odd but not bloated
Have you started any treatment for the illness? general antI bacterial liquid

Tail could have been nipped or he could have finrot due to water parameters/stress etc.

I may be seeing the picture wrong, but are his scales pineconing?

HI thanks for speedy reply: sorry forgot water info:
PH 7
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate looks about 30ppm
temp is 23 celsius

I don't have kanaplex or epsom salts on hand but pet store is only a few mins away if needed. the fish is swimming and behaving normally so far.

scales on side and top look fine scales on belly look a little frayed though

I can't really see if he's pineconing very well. The picture focused on the gravel. It can be hard to photograph fish! From looking down on him in person, are his scales sticking out at all?

Sorry phone cameras for you! scales actually do look like they are starting to pine cone from top view
