Poor Water Flow With Sponge Filters

blindfaith429

Have a 10 gallon tank I set up for shrimp. Currently have 5 Golden-Back Yellow Dwarf Shrimp in it.

Tank it outfitted with a pair of pre-set Fluval P25's (25 watt heaters), and a pair of Nano Sponge Filters rated for 5 gallons each. Sponge filters are connected to a 2-way gang valve, and a Tetra Whisper 20 powering them.

Tank also has dragon-stone, driftwood, and I have live plants on the way.

Issue I'm seeing (or at least perceiving) is that the tank doesn't seem to have very good "current" (for lack of a better term). The water does have movement (can see when adding food), but it seems very very slow.

I also have a 20 long that is outfitted with a Fluval 207 canister, and that tank has too much movement when I don't throttle the valve on the filter.

I don't know, maybe I'm just use to the flow of the 20 long, and think I have a problem that's not really there.

Am I crazy? Is this normal?

Thanks!

Sponge filters generate very little flow but some people prefer to have less flow in their tanks
