Today, I decided I was bored of my empty tank and nicked some pond snails from my sisters overrun tank.
I named them Cosmo and Clover.

Is there anything special I need to do to help them survive?

Definitely not. Just give them food and dechlorinated water and they'll be fine and you'll have a bunch of snails. :)

    Will they live of algae?

Depends how much algae you have. Are they alone in the tank or with fish? If they're with fish they'll easily live off leftover food the fish miss.

Not with fish at the moment. I think I'm getting them next week.
I have quite a lot of algae

If there's a lot of algae then they should be fine.

    Good. Thank you.
