Pond on a budget?

So, I am the owner of 5 goldfish; 2 commons and 3 comets. I've been researching some bigger tank options (although I won't be able to do much until I graduate college in a year) and am leaning towards a cheap indoor pond once I graduate and get a place of my own. I was watching some Solid Gold videos on youtube, and saw that the host uses some kiddie play pools she got on amazon for her breeding telescope butterfly goldfish. Does anyone have any experience keeping indoor ponds? What size would I need for my guys? Any filter suggestions? I like the idea of stock tanks like the kind that are used for horses because they are much lighter to move than a big glass fish tank.

Here are some that are in the running:

I love solid golds videos!

I would go with something like #1, but with 5 commons you'd need a 750 gallon minimum(150 per fish)I would go with at least 1,000 (200 per fish) though. When given the appropriate conditions, commons can get over 2 feet long. Make sure they have enough room to turn around!

Oh my, that's large! I knew they got big, but I thought they maxed out around a foot

Yeah. There are some in my dads pond at work that are nearly 3 feet. When given proper conditions they get huge! You could probably start out smaller and upgrade, but goldies grow fast.

That's why most people refuse to believe they outgrow bowls! I think one of their koi is over 3ft. They refer to her as "Moby Dick" because she's white and huge lol.

Good luck with your babies

Good luck He is right, we just sold our house and I had to leave mine behind because my new back yard is so small I can only have a 800 gallon pond and that's small once they get big. My Koi were about 30' and the comets 12". Bad thing I am 59 years old and was in tears when I had to leave them and start over. Good thing the person who bought our house was thrilled to have the pond and we stay in contact.
