I have a 125 gallon tank that I am setting up for some big fish. I have a submersible pond filter the box that you hook up to a pump and then return either in a fountain or waterfall I have an extra pump that pumps 1200 gallons per hour was curious if I could use that on this tank or if its iay overkilll

Doesn’t sound like overkill to me, but that would depend on the flow. Each gallon in the tank would get filtered about 9.6 times every hour. Compared to, say, a 120 GPH on a 10 gallon, where every gallon is filtered 10 times, this would be considered great

Of course, this would be with the pond filter alone- I don’t know what GPH your waterfall filter has
