As the question states, what brand and type of flakes do you think is the best for fish? Please vote! And if you care to elaborate on your vote, please do!

Also, are their any negatives to getting the color enhancing versions of said flakes?

(I realize flakes are not the only foods out there, and there many things that are even better than flakes, but this poll is specifically in regards to flakes)

Thanks for you input!

I like OmegaOne flakes.

High in protein and nutrients with little fillers.

The only th8ng I don’t like about flakes is that they get smaller and smaller as you use them and some of my fish won’t eat small flakes.

A con of color enhancing flakes is that most of them only promote red coloration.

My apistogramma trifasciata is thriving on Omega One flakes. It's the only dry food he'll eat.

I use Omega one as well. I have the same problem. Luckily the bottom of the container works for the fry. lol

I started this thread because I just learned that omega one flakes can be dangerous to some fish due to many small bones being imbedded in the flakes.

I have been using them for years...even with my baby angels (when they are past the baby brine shrimp stage) and I have never had a problem. But that info scared me and made me want to switch.....so I was wondering what other brands are good.

Well they do have the best ingredients! And that is why I chose them as well. But now I am paranoid!

Hmmm. I haven’t seen bones in my flakes before...

2 other cons are that the packaging is kinda dull and is a little flimsy.

The first one is a con because it isn’t something that catches your eye so you usually look past it if you’re browsing through a pet store.

The second one is a con because one of my friends dropped the tube of flakes and it broke. I had to transfer all of the remaining flakes to a salsa container(no more salsa)

LOL I have the opposite problem! My biggest fish are a not-quite-adult GBR and a 3” SAE. so I finger-grind all my flakes into powder.
My local big als uses Cobalt flakes. I was asking about a fish that wasn’t eating well and they said if it won’t eat that it won’t eat anything. I accepted this assertion with a big grain of salt.

I like to use tetra fish food. My fish eat it like there is no afternoon feeding.

The guy apparently found them after grounding up the fakes really fine.

But I crush them up super fine between my fingers for my fry. I've never felt or seen any sharp little bones.

But he did post a video of it.....hI'm crushing them through a screen....

Okay, I don't see any bones now- guess it was just the angle.

Here's the link. But you'll probably have to join the group to actually view it. The group is called: angelfish enthusiasts international

EDIT: yep it doesn't work. SO if you are really curious, join that group on facebook and once you are in the group, search omega one and you should be able to find the post.
