Poll: How many otos do you have, and how outgoing are they?

From what I've read, otos have reputation for being shy in smaller numbers, but more outgoing in larger groups. I've created this poll to get an idea of how active they are likely to be in various group sizes. Please let us know in the poll how many otocinclus you have, and how shy or outgoing they are.

I've allowed multiple responses so, if you have or have had more than one tank with otos, you can select more than one option (there's no way to select the same option more than once unfortunately).

At one point I had a school of 8 otos going, and they were much more active than only 1 or 2 but they weren’t as active as, say, tetras. They would swim together and 40% of the time they were sitting on leaves or something.

 

I have 11 otos in my 220 gallon, and while they certainly don't zip around and beg like the rainbows, they don't hide and will regularly cruise up and stick to the glass or driftwood closest to where ever I am and go about their business. They dont care if I'm there or not. The rainbows follow my movements around the room in the attempt to beg food from me.

I do notice at night they all tend to poof - there are several artificial 'caves' of PVC T-joints in this tank, and they all go hide in those and sleep at night. They re-emerge each morning and then can be found all over the tank. But they are not active at night. Not sure if that's all otos, or just mine.

Oh wow, JenC's tank has very similar stocking to what I'm planning for my tank, which is extremely reassuring! That tank looks incredible!

 

I'm wondering if 3 is too little for them to feel safe in my 15g. I also have 3 amano shrimp and 3 African Dwarf Frogs...do I "need" more?
