Poison Ivy in my tank, is it possible

I'm not sure but I think I have poison ivy or spider bites on my right arm, which is the arm I do water changes and maintence on. Does anybody know if I put my arm in if I can give something to my fish? Just to be safe I've not done it and have managed to work with my left but it's a pain to do. I think it's spider bite so it might have venom in it, I wonder if that could be contagious to the fish. I only say this because I've lain in poison ivy before playing paintball and I've never gotten it so for now I'm immune to it. Just wondering what everybody else thinks.

thanks

It's possible something could go into the aquarium or into you from the aquarium water, so i'd recommend using fishkeeper gloves (like the ones at DFS) when working on the tanks.

I used to be the same way...I could roll in poison ivy and never get it. Body changes or whatever, but now I swear I can get a 4 alarm case of it just by seeing a picture of it on tv.

Are they 18" long? My 29 is high. I haven't had any problems so far with not wearing gloves, I make sure I don't put my arms in after I go running or something but then again I don't know.

Ya my cousin's the same way, I just hope I don't become that, we play paintball in a lot of poison ivy.

Ugh, I hate gloves. I'll look into them, they would be long enough indeed. Do they have them at petco.

LOL, petco?.. probably not if it's like our sad petco here.. and if they did, you'd probably be paying up to 2x as much as the DFS site (or more).

Ah but my petco has a good fishkeeper........seriously. Yes well when you don't have a credit card you can't be too picky about prices at stores, you do find ways to get around them

just my 2 cents-- you are probably not going to spread anything to your fish-- but if you have used any lotions, creams or medicines on the rash, that can harm the fish. Also-- I am not allergic to poison ivy, but poison oak eats me alive!! Just a thought-- take it or leave it. ;D
happy healing

Don't let the head office know - that's against Petco policy I believe - a good fish keeper at petco.. shocking!

Thanks, nope I haven't. It's just a spider bite of some type, it's too large for poison ivy and isn't spreading.

Sterotyper! There are plenty of other bad fish stores around me, there's only 10 within a 20 minute drive
