Plecos Eye Is... Missing?

Hey, I just woke up today and saw that my one inch albino BN has one of its eyes missing..... the other eye is still there but is more red and dilated than usual. It is acting normal and is clinging to its favorite driftwood but I feel terribly sorry for it. It has been living in my fancy goldfish tank (2 goldfish in the tank) with a rubber pleco about one and a half inches. Will he live without that eye? I feel so sorry for it. I’ve never seen my orandas chase after him before so I’m really confused on how it is gone. Should I remove him and do some sort of treatment? Thank youuu..... I have attached a picture. On the left side the eye is completely gone.

What size is the tank? Rubberlips can get very territorial, my guess would be that the plecos are fighting.

My plecos fight in my 75G cichlid tank. I have a marble and a 'regular' and the marble chases and rams into my 'regular' guy, even though he's much bigger. They actually will never be on the same pane of glass because of this, when I feed them, they always eat on opposite sides of the tank (they prefer my cichlid food (meaty) over their algae wafers...its actually funny)

I have 2 BN plecos in my 45 gal with goldfish as well, they also fight with one another, though not as often because they've established territory and rarely roam around to other areas. When they find eachother though, it's the same thing. They won't be on the same pane of glass, the one will chase the other off of it.

It's possible one of your other fish got a little curious. Sometimes it happens. I believe he should be fine though.

If the eye got damaged beyond repair it will fall out, if it was damaged and bulged out one of your other fish could have eaten it (as it would be food to them). A fish can live without one or even both eyes as long as you are able to adapt to the changes it has to deal with (it will have some issues finding food, may not react as well to light, with a pleco they aren't as blind as another fish as their eyes are fairly forward and look slightly up, so unlike a fish that has eyes on either side of its head it won't have as much issue without sight on the side). Pristine water will help heal the socket so it doesn't become infected.

I recently moved them from a 25 gallon into a 50 gallon.

Do you have a few pleco caves in there? I'd give them lots of hiding spaces and clear places to claim as territory.
