I have two bristlenose pleco. One albino male, and a marbled female. The male likes to chill/sleep upside down. I used to be worried, but he has always done this, now I have caught me female also sleeping like this? Is it common amoung bristlenose plecos?

I only have experience with one common pleco. Archibald enjoys gnawing on driftwood upside down. He will hang out like that for long periods of time. I don’t think there is anything bad about it.

Something weird is that one of my zebra loaches will sometimes hang out upside down in a similar manner. I keep thinking he is dead, but really he is laying there resting. I don’t know if it’s normal behavior or not, but there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with it.

My Elbert (over there in my avatar) does it too. The first few times he did it I was concerned but it is just something he does. He also lays on his back while eating his zucchini. He started doing it that way back when I still had my common pleco. Jethro the common would be eating from the top and Elbert was eating from the bottom. Elbert just continued doing it that way even after I re-homed Jethro.

From my experiences, yes. Its rather common that Bristlenose does this. Some suggest that while in a deep sleep they 'fall off'...

Man I didn't get notification for any of these replies.... What the heck fishlore?? Also I got another picture of both of them together and him still doing it Is the girl marbled? Is that right? Sometimes she's not all swirly patterned but most of the time she is. When I first got here I thought she had a fungal infection but nope. Just coloring

There is always an odd ball in the group I guess. I can’t stop laughing at this guy.
