In need of some ideas for all the pleco fry... I set up a 20 gallon tank as a fry tank my breeders are in a 55 g and it seems that as soon as I xfer all the fry from the big
Tank there are more babies popping out.. The tank mates have lost their taste for baby brushy nose and the local stores want fry to be 1"-2" before they will take them.... Anybody have any ideas outside of craigslist for selling/ trading babies that range from .25" to 1.25"

Until you can access the Buy/sell/trade section I would use aquabid or craigslist personally. Try your local aquarium club as well if you have one. If you are members of any other forums you can try those as well.

If you aren't looking for money or even a credit then Petsmart/co will usually take my fry and put them in their "adoption" tank.

I don't know about the petco petsmart option... When I asked them about my pleco fry, they asked for one dollar per fry....

You gotta pay them to take your fry? That's pretty ridiculous...

Sorry I don't have any additional suggestions for placing or selling fry. I'm lucky in that my LFS buys mine. But you probably should separate the parents as they'll likely continue to spawn every 18 days or so.

That's why my three each have their own tank. No babies. Alison

Yep, separate male and female and there you go.

My Lfs will take them they just want them to be atleast an inch to inch and a half... Unless there is a way to speed up growth...

Just keep them well fed. They won't all grow at the same rate though so you just keep taking the larger ones to the LFS as they grow.

Homer I'm sitting at about 40-60 fry with about 10 that are ready for the lfs

Petco won't take them here

I'm not sure about pleco babies specifically, but most fry will grow faster with a little extra protein in their diets and warmer water (like 78ish degrees). Hopefully you can grow them out enough for your lfs to take them, that's absolutely ridiculous to have to pay. ...

So these are bushy nose plecos? From the photo almost looks like a longfin mixed with a gold nugget. I am amazed no lfs is taking them in your area, here in cincinnatI they are selling them under an inch.

Hmmm under and inch is pretty small but if you sell a couple at once I'd be willing to buy if you post on eBay or something. I'm sure other people would too. That way you don't have to hang on to them till they are an inch.

I'll post on eBay but haven't the slightest clue how to ship fish from Texas to ohio

If you look at the stickies in the b/t/s/f section, there's one with a bunch of links on shipping methods, might help you out a bit.

You might have to pay/ charge a bit more for shipping/ packaging but if the price is right on the fish you shouldn't have too much of a problem. At least this way you don't have to pay petsmart to take em or wait forever to raise em for your lfs.obviously up to you but hey it's an option. Stick a link to the sale on here if you decide to do it.

This looks like it applies to the BST forum only?

"10. The BST forum is for FishLore members to buy/sell/trade with each other. No posts with links to external websites like craigslist, ebay, aquabid, etc."

I didn't see anything about posting in other forums but maybe I am misinterpreting.

It is also addressed in the rules we all agreed to when joining the forum

Buy/Sell/Trade/Free Section - only for members with 50 or more posts. This is to prevent spammers from just signing up to sell stuff. No posts with links to external websites like craigslist, ebay, aquabid, etc. The BSTF forum is for FishLore members to buy/sell/trade with each other. It is NOT a sales channel for your business, unless you set something up where FishLore members exclusively get some kind of benefit from the deal. Contact a moderator before posting if you are unsure of the rules to get their approval.
AND do not try to bypass the 50 post limit by using other sections of the forum or visitor messages. B/S/T/F should only happen in this section and in PM (both of which require 50 posts or more to use).
