Pleco diet

So i posted not too long ago about my 36 gallon tank. I have all my fish and plants settled now and just installed a heater. Now for my pleco; i believe he's a common pleco. I have algae wafers and shrimp pellets for him. I was going to try some romaine lettuce and cucumber. Any suggestions in general about his diet? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Plecos need food that will sink down to the bottom and have a lot of veggies, such as algae wafers or veggie pellets. They also love zucchini. Once they get all the algae they will eat need something else to eat, such as above.

Depends on the type of pleco. Is this comment for common pleco ?

Yes, I advised him to get rid of it, they are carnivorous (I know that), but they get 2 feet long and he/she has a 36g.

Yes, please return the common pleco to the store if it actually is one. They get GIGANTIC and have a huge appetite, which means they also go to the bathroom ALOT. A 36 gallon simply can't handle a bioload like that with a regular filter and other fish mixed in.

Thank you all so much! Ive been doing tank upgrades as he grows. Ive had him about 2 years now. Unfortunately i didn't know there were different types of plecos at the time and pet stores can be useless when it comes to such information. I have a 125g waiting for me for when i need it.

These are a couple older pictures. Someone told me he looked stressed in this. But it was after a tank change

Yeah we used to have one aswell and it would get white-ish whenever you walk up to him, we provided him with a DIY cave of piling some rocks and he really enjoyed it. As for food, cucumber barely has anything in it so it's pretty much like feeding him water. I highly reccomend zucchini and personally i use JBL NovoPleco XL tabs for my plecos. The tabs fully stay together until every bit is eaten and it doesn't foul your tank at all, no particles or cloudiness. I'm not sure if they're available in the country you're from but here they are like €12,- 250ml. Lasts a few months.

Our plecos like slices of cucumber on bamboo skewers.
