Pleco Died And Im So Sad :(

Hey guys!

I cleaned my tank a couple days ago and I my fish also had a bout of ick... so I cleaned the tank and check everything from filter to water perameters... and I noticed he wasn't moving as much.. my other fish are great, but my pleco.. wasn't himself.. I couldnt find him last night.. so I looked for him today and he died!!!! His tail is gone (figure the fish ate that) and his scales are coming off and his head is all eaten... what could have happened!!! They are so resilient and hes been fine up to this week... is there a sick that effect the pleccos more than other fish? I have 2 pkatys and 3 babies (still small.. ill be gettig rid of them soon)

Plecos don't always react well to medications. Perhaps the Ick treatment did him in. A lot of Pleco varieties require driftwood to knaw on as well as fish food to survive.

Thanks so much. I feel sI bad... he was doing so well... so when treating Ick, should I move him to my other aquarium? Or will he have the ick too and pass it to the other fish? Again... I'm so sad.

 

What ick meds did you use?

 

I doubt it was the ich med.

 

I used the Ick tablets. But he seemed un well for the last week... but I could never tell. I'm wondering if he got so spooked while I was cleaning the tank.. but still I actually am super sad. He has roughed through the good and bad the last 7 months... all the other guys are happy... I used this waste control liquid... perhaps that was really bad... and I have the ammonia control liquid.. I was told by the pet store that that's what I was suppose to use.. ahh I feel so bad I killed my poor guy!! So sad. Poor Smeagle.
