Pleco Being Silly

Hey all, my BN pleco likes to "jump the gap" as I call it. He swims up the stream on my filter and hangs out in the cartirgde area. Then when he feels like it, he jumps back over and goes about his business (usually over to the sponge filter lol)

So, a few questions:
1. Is this normal pleco behavior being obsessed over filters?
2. Being inside the filter won't hurt him, will it? He seems fine and has been doing it for a few weeks.
3. Should I be concerned about this happening when I upgrade my filter to a HOB filter?

Thanks guys! Here's a pic for ya!

Haha. How cute, I’d say as long as he doesn’t get stuck in there, he should be ok!

I would say its fine as long as he doesn't get down the tube where the impeller is - if the opening is big, you might want to put a piece of sponge there so he can't get in there ( it will also be a benefit for your tank to get extra BB too )

My Nerite snails like to do the same thing - they stay in there for a few days and then climb back over

I've got a baby albino bristlenose that I've seen several times racing against the bubble output of my sponge filter tube to hang out inside it. Then she eventually just backs out and heads elsewhere. I find it highly entertaining myself
That's why plecos are fun!

Thanks guys! I'll definitely look into whether or not I need to cover the impeller tube thingy.

Plecos are diefinitly quite the charachters lol
