Pleco and Cory pandas. Advice on other fish too.

Do they get along? I have a 20 gallon tank. I waited for algae to build and I have a good amount, almost too much since I have been busy. I did a water change and I'm about to do another. I have 5 red eye tetras and a powder blue dwarf gourami. I want a pleco for sure. Probably a bristlenose. I love Cory Pandas too, and would it be okay to be together in a 20 gallon? Also, what other fish get along that are intriguing to look at. I want one more fish of decent size and maybe another school? Would that be overstocked? This is my first tank so I apologise if this is common knowledge, but I would rather be safe and not make any mistakes.

They do get along. Corys aren't algae eaters so I wouldn't get them if you're expecting them to clean the tank or eat algae. BN plecos will need their own diet as well like fresh veggies and wood to rasp on. I would say the tank may be a little small to have a pleco in but you could add the corys.

Is this a 20 high or long?

Otos are worth looking in to. They both school (at times) and clean up algae. Awfully pretty little buggers.

Otos only eat soft algae though. If you've let some hair algae build up, 2-3 platys (all male to avoid babies) will get along with your current stock and graze a bit on algae. I wouldn't rely on them to do anything major as far as cleaning it up goes. That's mostly on you unfortunately.

I have decided to not get corys. I jumped the gun and after further research, I decided against it. I was misinformed and thought they ate algae as well but that wasn't the deciding factor. I found a bristlenose albino pleco I think I'm going to get tomorrow. It's 20 high with plenty hiding places and wood to hide or rasp on. I plan on upgrading to a 50 gallon after I get more into it. I need to practice with my 20 gallon before I go big. I catch on very quickly, look up info, and I'm not afraid to ask for help or advice if I need it. Anyways, my point is I can transfer any fish that outgrow the tank because I'll have the 50 by then. I made cool looking bar table stand that will fit the 50 gallon. Of course I will have strict rules and nothing will be placed on top but it's going to pump extra water into an external filter, and work as a minI waterfall for any playful fish. It's all concealed, too. Anyways, I went off topic I just found a new hobby and I rewlly enjoy doing this.

With the BN Pleco I want, I plan to give him cucumber. Pleco love cucumber. I was aware they liked fresh veggies so I'm prepared to have one. Is yhere any other recommended fresh veggies? What do you think about all this.

So platys will eat some algae? I wouldnt expect that lol. I like platys and thought about getting a school. I have a blue gourami and red eye tetra. I think pladys would be okay in there right? I though about that being my second school of fish. I'll look into otos, though.

Also thank you for the replies and advice. It's very helpful. The tank is doing very well and the other fish are happy, too.

Congrats on getting one of my all time favorite fish. Please check the link that Maeve posted and go to page 3 about halfway down the page. I wrote a post on feeding them fruits and veggies as well as their wafers. Please read it and feel free to ask me any questions. Welcome to the forum. Alison

Along with the albino BN Pleco I got two Silver Tip tetras. I plan to get more but that qas the last two. So my gourami, 5 red eye tetras, 2 silver tip tetras, and albino BN Pleco are getting along super well. If any of you have advice on how much more can go in, thatd be nice. It's a 20 gallon high. I am getting a 50 gallon soon for when any fish get too big or overcrowded. I don't expect much more but I know I can get a few more. With what I got now, what else should I get or should I just finish up with the Silver Tip Tetras?

He is a small little guy. No bigger than my pink. I can't wait to watch him grow!
