Please Help With Bichir

Hello. I'm considering a Senegal Bichir (Albino). But, before I move forward, I have some questions as I know very little about Bichirs. I've gotten some advice on a stocking thread I have, and I've done some reading, but I thought it'd be smart to see if I can find some people who are experienced with this fish.

First, some quick background. This would go into a 55 gallon with a Jack Dempsey. The JD is somewhere between 3"-5", so he definitely has some size, but by no means full grown. I know I'm adding fish backwards, which wasn't entirely intentional, but I found the JD first.

I've got the tank in a place where I can't go larger, so I first need to be sure the Bichir will be fine long term in my 55 (I've read conflicting info on this). Second, I need to be sure the Bichir and JD are likely to be good tank mates. Next is my Pleco question. I've read certain Plecos don't mix well with Bichirs, but I've read that others are safe. I really like the Blue Phantom Pleco, and I'm very interested in learning if this type is likely to work, or not. Thanks so much, in advance!

Whoa 55 gallon is way too small for a bichir that can get well over one foot, 100 gallon at least.

That's why I was asking. I've read some things suggesting this would be fine, but others suggesting 100+. Best I can tell is these differences are for different types of Bichirs, but I figured I'd ask in a section where people would be familiar with them.

Well they get about a foot and a half long, 55 would not be good whatsoever long term as I would say minimum tank size is 120gal

Thanks for the info! Seemed like the type I was considering was one of the smaller types, and would work in a 55. If not, I'm glad I brought my question here.
