I took this fish four years ago from a person who was gonna throw it out it's in a 55 gallon tank all by itself and I don't know what it is can someone please help I'm not new to this I've had fish on and off for 30 + years but I can't identify this one

It's a cichlid of some sort, but I don't have much experience with cichlid (except angels) so I can't tell you what type. I'm sure someone else will chime in with specific species.

Almost looks like an albino cichlid of some sort, save for the yellow fins and egg spots. Maybe an albino pseudotropheus zebra?

I know that it is a cichlid I should have made that clear sorry but I don't know what kind you can just barely see 5 or 6 vertical strips on the body if that helps

It is an albino Red Top Zebra, Metriaclima pyrsonotos, not unusual for them to have yellow fins instead of red. Actually a very nice looking male. One of the few albinos from MalawI that actually comes from the pure species.

Wow that's great to know I looked it up and it looks spot on thank you but like I mentioned I rescued this fish about 3 years ago and only knew it was a cichlid but I have questions now if you have as moment. is it ok by itself in a 55 gallon tank? It measures about 5.5 inches is that a good size for it?
