Please Help My Frogs

There’s something very wrong with Illidan. She is not eggy, she looks like every picture I’ve seen of a female filled with eggs but she has that same red **** that killed Pippa and Pippin and Cap and the work frogs on her stomach. Illidan was one of my first frogs. She’s Eurydice’s best friend. This picture was taken last night and since then, the red spots have gotten worse - they're darker and there's more of them and they're on her feet. Every time I put a frog in the sick tank for that red **** they die almost immediately. I’ve dosed my entire frog tank with Pimafix and Melafix and salt. Yrel looks like this too but without the red spots and her eyes are messed up like Cap’s. She threw up her dinner this morning and I didn't even know they could DO that. I think I did a bad thing trying to save Cap. He was quarantined and NOTHING of his came into contact with the frog tank, not even the feeder tongs, and I washed and disinfected my hands before I left work every day and after I handled Cap's sick tank. I should’ve dosed the tank when Pippa died. All of my animals are dying and it’s my fault and I don’t even know how to help the ones who are still alive. I've lost seven frogs to this red ****, even the work frogs, and I'm terrified that the chubby females I have aren't eggy either but actually like Illidan, and I lost my mantis yesterday and my favorite hamster at work because no one thought he needed a vet after having diarrhea for fifteen days. I'm freaking out. I can't lose my colony too, someone help me please.

I'm so sorry! What a tough time you have had.

Have you tried treating with anything besides melafix and pimafix?

Oh no, I'm really sorry that things are not going well, I think you will have to try stronger medication, any Maracyn and Maracyn two available in your area?

Illidan died. She drowned. She couldn't swim. I put her in a small cup with enough water to keep her from drying out and she still. Couldn't move her legs. She drowned. She's dead. One of my first frogs. I couldn't save her.

I follow your threads occasionally; I'm so sorry for your losses. I'm sure you're doing the best you can and I hope things get better for you. <3

I'm really sorry you have loose her, you have always taking good care of your frogs, it seems like a nasty bacteria has taking a hold of your tank, if another frog present the same symptoms, you should isolate her and treat both tanks with a strong antibiotic.

Did best you could. Some times there just isn't anything you can do sadly :-( But hopefully you can clear the others up.

The forums are being stupid for me on mobile, sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you guys.

Thank you all for your kind words. Illidan was very special to me. She helped me heal when I first lost a frog, Sunny, and she's been so good to all of my rehabilitated babies, namely Eurydice. A good 1/3 of my colony are disabled (missing toes from accidents at work, recovering from starvation from the vendor, one is blind), and since she was the biggest, I feel like the other frogs thought "well if Illidan thinks these sick frogs are okay then they must be cool."

We have moved into a bigger tank and I'm glad I only have space for a 20 long right now. I had originally planned to get a 40 breeder but the babies don't know what to do with an extra ten gallons of space, even though they were so cramped in their baby tank. I've been target feeding them but they're disoriented. I've decided to stick to my original plan of getting them a 40 sometime around Christmas or their first birthday in February. They should be big enough by then that the space won't seem SO massive.

Everyone seems to be okay, healthwise. I've dosed the tank with fixes and erythromycin and got my confidence back enough to nurse a new baby back to health. His name is Morty and he's lost his FRONT leg. I'm guessing one of the fish at work bit it. All my babies have had issues with their back feet, which I feel is worse in the long run (since they need those to swim), but I feel like losing a front leg is worse short term because of shedding and shoving food in his mouth. He's doing very well. I can't get him to eat off the tongs but he eats off the sick tank floor.
