Hi everyone!
I recently set up a planted bowl a couple days ago and after adding in the plants (stems, foreground, floating), I noticed these tiny green speck around my frogbit. I also found some small leaves at the surface too which didn’t seem to be coming from my other plants. Could this be duckweed? I’d really like to know as I’m trying to take all the specks out and its sort of a struggle, but I really don’t want duckweed in my tank lol. Thanks!

Yes that’s definitely duckweed in the second photo.
Contrary to what you may hear it is possible to get rid of it from a tank. Just keep at it every day you see a little remove it. You will get the upper hand if you keep at it. If you don’t remove it and give up it will be with you by the millions.

Good to know, that’s reassuring if I’m unable to get everything out this time around. Thank you for replying!

I guess I’m a little shocked it developed so quickly since I’ve never seen it before today and there’s already a visible leaf. It really does grow quite rapidly!

Yep, what Flyfisha said 100%.

I also heard significant surface water agitation also helps to rid the tank (in cooperation with manual removal) of it if you are having issues. Evidently it slows the growth of new frogbit.

Thanks! If it stays a problem I have an airstone I can definitely stick in there.
