Tank
60 Gallons.
3.5 Years.
Has filter.
No heater.
1 Goldfish, 1 Blackmoor.

Maintenance
Once every two weeks.
Half.
Full cleaning.

Feeding
Once a day.
6-12 pellets each.

Illness & Symptoms
3.5 Years.
3 Days.
My fish has a weird white skin-like layer over one of its eyes, I'm pretty sure it isn't cloudy eye as it's like a full layer over the eye. It has swim bladder disease so it mostly lays on the bottom unless I put it on it's harness.
I don't know what it is.
My fish has been healthy other than having swim bladder disease.
White film/skin over its eye.

Explain your emergency situation in detail.
A few days ago I noticed my goldfish had a weird white layer on the side of its eye, I looked it up and only found cloudy eye which I think looks pretty different from what it has. Since yesterday I put it on its harness, I was able to properly see the eye and noticed it has a full layer of white skin or film over its eye. Looked it up again with many different keywords and found nothing online. I'd really love if someone could help me out so I can hopefully start treatment or be less worried about my fish!

The same thing happened to a blue acara of mine. It developed slowly and led to loss of that eye. So look up pop eye treatment. But remember, this is a symptom of an underlying issue, one eye of one fish is likly to be an injury that started this, not a disease. I guess it is harder to know if you only have the one fish, but Good water quality is still the number one priority. Remove any decorations like plastic plants that could have poked the eye. Consider adding melifix. Make sure the fish is getting to its food. That's what I did, the white fell of in maybe 3-4 weeks, and the fish did not die.

Could you possibly post a picture? I think i had a similar problem with my black moor and it did indeed turn out to be a form of cloudy eye :>

Sorry for such a late reply. It's the eye touching the gravel that is puffed as shown in the pictures. I may be able to flip her over and take more to get better visibility if needed.

From what i can see it looks like a form of cloudy eye that affects the outer layer of the eye instead of the inner. My moor had the same thing and i treated it with melafix and daily water changes. It cleared up in about a week with that.
It also can be a buildup of slime coat which is treated the same way (my moor had both at the same time), so i would definitely try out changing the water very frequently if not daily, and dosing with the appropriate amount of melafix.

I would also suggest buying a small “breeding net” which is just a little cube with mesh that can be hung or attached to the inside walls of the tank. I placed it near a bubbler so there was lots of oxygen and i could monitor the progress better without the possibility of further damage to the eyes or body while he was healing!

Thanks! I'll make sure to get a breeding net.
