Please Help!!!! Albino Cory Has Red Internal Bleeding!

Like the title says, one of my albino cories suddenly has some weird dark red bruising. It almost looks like bleeding, but under the skin on one side (I couldn’t get a pic of it at the moment) and it looks bad. She is a very precious fish to me because my boyfriend gave me a couple as a present. She is a little dormant, swims around a little, but I haven’t seen her eat and she’s won’t stick with the other cories anymore. I just saw this today when I got home from school and I don’t know what’s wrong!

I keep her in a 30 gal with a Betta, neon tetras, oto, and other cories. There’s a rock ornament in there that she, or any other fish, has never had a problem with. Is this a disease or an injury?? TIA!!’

 

Can you list water parameters? pH, temp, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates

How many of each species do you have?

 

This probably is red blotch disease. Often caused by a (local) ammonia/nitrite spike.

Big waterchange and a full dose of Melafix might save it.

Think about changing substrate

 

I wouldn't bother with Melafix - it's a diluted herbal remedy that is basically useless. Clean water will do the same for it. If you want something to treat it with, we can give you some real meds to try.

The nr.1 Coryguru in the world gives this advice as the only possible remedy against Red Blotch Disease in Corys.

I know it isn't a med, it is natural based, but together with huge waterchanges it seems to do the job.

 

I think huge water changes would work on their own, but if someone wants to spend money on Melafix, they can I just personally think it's a waste of money.

 

It smells good too.. so fish may enjoy it. Lol
