Play Sand?

Is colored play sand good for tanks I want to set up a small 5.5 talon tank with a few tropical how do I wash the sand and keep water from being cloudy?

I would be concerned about the dye being non fish safe.

Carib Sea sells sands in many hues and textures. A little more pricey than play sand, but worth the price, I think.

Pool filter sand is another option. As is coal slag sold at feed stores.

I use PFS. There are utube videos on how to clean it using a bucket. It’s very hard to get play sand clean enough.

Don't put a parrot and angel fish in a 5.5 gallon. Second, rinse the sand very well with water.

Rethink where you're going to put those fish, please!

Now that I've said that, rinse and rinse and rinse. It'll probably still be cloudy but the filter should take care of it within a day or two
