Platys with inflamed/red blotchy gills

tutle64

Good morning all,
two of my 3 adult platies seem to be having issues with their gills being swollen, red, inflamed, and blotchy with silvery patches along the gills. Attached I have pictures shown. I suspect that it is a sort of bacterial gill disease caused by flavobacteria. This all started immediately after the bigger black-finned one (orange belly not white) gave birth to about 60 fry. I have been keeping a close eye on her and essentially she keeps her mouth wide open and gasping, her gills are extremely swollen, she stays at the top breathing for air, and she eats lightly. The other black-finned one with the white belly started showing similar symptoms but not quite as extreme. She gave birth over a month ago and is still like this. I first treated for gill flukes to no success, and I suspect I misdiagnosed. I have now been treating them with Maracyn 2, and symptoms have not improved yet (day 4 of first treatment). I am looking for confirmation that these fish have a bacterial gill infection and that Maracyn 2 will in fact assist these fish in recovery.
